Comment:

 Ah, yes. For some reason, the QuickTime SDK is required to install Python.
 This should be available on your Xcode install CDs (if you have them), or
 online on the Xcode dmg, available through [http://developer.apple.com/
 Apple's developer site].

 This fact is mentioned on the [wiki:FAQ#Pythonfailstobuild FAQ] (though
 the documentation of the issue is very poor).
