 There are some issues with the current version of ruby offered by macports
 (1.8.6-p110) regarding net/https as explained in
 http://blade.nagaokaut.ac.jp/cgi-bin/scat.rb/ruby/ruby-list/44066.

 Upgrading to 1.8.6-p111 (the latest) should be straightforward.

 I've contacted the maintainer with no reply.
