 Scott Petersen [http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-
 users/2008-January/007959.html reported] on macports-users list that aRts
 fails to build, failing to apply the first patchfile. I get a different
 error when I try ("`configure: error: C compiler cannot create
 executables`"). I looked at the portfile, and it is doing some very
 strange things (16 patchfiles, overridden patch procedure, quotes around
 all the various arguments and flags which is no longer necessary or
 supported with MacPorts 1.6.0, weird changing of PATH, weird compiler
 selection for darwin 8 powerpc, etc, etc, etc).
