 Anders found that this is [http://curl.haxx.se/mail/lib-2005-03/0131.html
 a bug in curl 7.13.1], which is unfortunately the version of curl present
 on Mac OS X 10.4.11. r32722 caused the problem, and r32801 fixed it. See
 #12629.
