 Many ports have used this construct:

 platform darwin 8 {
     configure.compiler gcc-4.0
 }
 }}}

 This is no longer necessary since MacPorts 1.6 already uses GCC 4.0 by
 default on Tiger. See [http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-
 dev/2007-December/003979.html this message on the macports-users].
