 You didn't say what version of libiconv you're trying to install, but the
 port is currently at version 1.12. Can you please "sudo port selfupdate"
 and try again with that version?

 If you still have the problem, please let me know your version of Mac OS
 X, Xcode and MacPorts and what kind of Mac you have.
