Comment:

 The [http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/glib/2.17/glib-2.17.3.changes
 changelog for glib 2.17.3] (the development version, released a day after
 the stable version 2.16.4) mentions fixes for endian issues. Can you try
 deactivating glib2 and installing glib2-devel instead to see if that fixes
 the issue? Please "`port sync`" first because I just updated glib2-devel
 to this version.
