 I also think we should do what the Perl INSTALL file (and the FreeBSD
 port) suggests.  At least this issue should be solved with a workaround
 until a "real" solution emerges, since breakage like this makes users shun
 away from using MacPorts.  (My debian-using colleagues weren't very
 impressed by issues like #15609).
