 Just to note, I had this same problem, but I found my problem.  It was my
 employer's content http content filter.

 Ended up going home and running ports from home.

 I don't know if these commands are needed once you have unrestricted
 network access, but these commands work for me.

 port checksum PACKAGENAME
 port install PACKAGENAME
 }}}
