 Very, very close.

 If I do

 {{{
 $ python axes_demo.py -dTKAgg
 }}}

 it brings up an X window, sure enough.  However, if I do just

 {{{
 $ python axes_demo.py
 }}}

 then it seems to default to a Wx window, which should not be happening for
 the tkinter variant.

 Note that although I have the Wx components installed, I have not
 installed the wxpython variant of py25-matplotlib.

 Almost there!
