Trying to `sudo port -vd install git-core`, I find it fails for some
strange reason. The last few lines are:

I have `msgfmt` in `/opt/local/bin/msgfmt`, and `/opt/local/bin` in my
`PATH`, but it's possible the build process starts a new shell which
cannot find it?
