 Hi,

 I have found something interesting on this issue on this website:
 [http://epb.lbl.gov/xfig/installation.html][[BR]], though not really
 related to xfig on Darwin.

 The key is to use the environment variable XAPPLRESDIR in the shell:
 ''export XAPPLRESDIR=/opt/local/lib/X11/app-defaults''. After that it
 (temporarily) worked. I suggest to include the export statement into
 .profile.
