Comment:

 I'm fine with adding a variant for PostgreSQL 8.3 support, in addition to
 the existing variant for PostgreSQL 8.2 support.

 The rest of the changes to the configure arguments aren't really related,
 and for each one I'll have to research why it was there, and whether it
 should be removed or replaced with something else. Could you file a
 separate ticket for that, adding any information you've already gathered
 about those options? Thanks.
