 Also, I don't think that vim links against ruby/perl/python.  The linking
 errors come when you run ./configure yourself, because although configure
 will then complete successfully the linking will fail because you're
 trying to link arch vim against the Universal libncurses.

 The reason that ruby throws a spanner in the works is because it adds its
 own LDFLAGS to vim's LDFLAGS to ensure (or try to) that vim gets compiled
 to be compatible with ruby.
