Comment (by rlonstein at pobox.com):

 Interestingly, running {{{port -v install clisp}}} fails consistently as
 above but it succeeds when the debug output is suppressed. This seen with
 clisp r2.43 on Intel Leopard 1.5.2 in Macports r1.600.
