 The workaround for this is to:

 {{{
 sudo port uninstall slib-guile16 slib
 }}}

 Then download Portfile and files/patch-Makefile from
 https://trac.macports.org/browser/trunk/dports/devel/slib?rev=40928 - this
 is version 3a3. Now change to this directory and finally say:

 {{{
 sudo port install
 sudo port install slib-guile16
 }}}

 It should work now. I encountered this problem when compiling gnucash, and
 it appears to be discussed in this thread:
