Comment(by markd at macports.org):

 Is your imac ppc or intel?  I am able to install bochs on 10.5.5/Intel,
 but I saw that 2.3.7 was available, so I just updated the port.  Please
 try the new version and see if that helps.  If it doesn't, I don't have
 any advice unfortunately, but please let us know.
