 Ok, I had this suspect yesterday, but I know nothing about .app files. I
 suspect the name of the executable file is supposed to be the same as the
 name of the .app. Is this correct? I noticed the name of the app is
 wxMaxima whereas the executable is named wxmaxima... and my filesystem is
 case sensitive. I just tried to install the app again so that it doesn't
 work and then I did a:
 {{{
 sudo mv wxmaxima wxMaxima
 }}}
 The .app suddenly changed its icon and worked like a charm. This would
 explain why someone has the .app working right after the installation.
