 I think this is an issue with the macports version of macfuse. I managed
 to get sshfs working on my machine by:
 1: Uninstalling the macports macfuse
 2: Installing the .pkg from the macfuse website.
 3: Building/installing sshfs and sshfs-gui with 'port -nf'.
