New description:

 After invoking "sudo port install postgresql81 +python", the build failed.
 When I removed the +python variant, the build succeeded. But now I can't
 use Python from inside PostgreSQL.

 I have the most up-to-date version of XCode for 10.3: XCode 1.5 + November
 2004 GCC Updater. DarwinPorts is also current at version 1.211.

 gcc version 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1671)
