 When octave 3.0.{1,2} is built with the gcc43 variant, 'save -text' or
 'save -ascii' causes a core-dump and crash.

 I believe that the issue is related to using apple's default gcc-4.0 with
 Fortran from gcc-mp-4.3.

 Changing the entire default toolchain to gcc-mp-4.3 restored proper
 behaviour.

 Trivial patch attached.
