 One thing I took from a Linux distribution that had an RPM for cdargs is
 the idea to put the shell startup script code in a ".d" directory. I think
 it would be MacPort's (or maybe the bash port's) responsibility to define
 such a standard location, for other packages that also install global
 shell initialization code.

 Of course the bash package would need to be extended to source those
 files. That's what happens on the Linux distro.
