Comment:

 Fixed in r39759.

 I just used Python 2.5.2's bsddb module which works with Berkeley DB 4.6.
 The module compiles and passes using:

 {{{
 $ /opt/local/bin/python2.4 Lib/test/test_bsddb.py
 }}}
