New description:

 I installed xmms (w/ glib1, gtk1) using darwinports but got this error at
 startup:

 {{{
 GLib-ERROR **: could not allocate -1 bytes
 aborting...
 Abort trap
 }}}

 I got the same error when I compiled everything myself.

 After some tests I finally found out that if I did gcc_select 3.3 and
 recompile, it worked ; but it didn't work using gcc 4.0.

 You may want to update the Portfile to prevent this problem.

 Note : I run the latest update of Mac OS X (this may have broken
 something).
