 I have Xcode 2.5 installed and tried to install macports from source only
 to receive the following:

 checking MacPorts version... ./configure: line 1: tr: command not found
 ./configure: line 1: sed: command not found

 checking for gcc... no
 checking for cc... no
 checking for cl.exe... no
 configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
 See `config.log' for more details.
 ./configure: line 1: sed: command not found
 ./configure: line 36: sed: command not found
 ./configure: line 39: sort: command not found
 ./configure: line 56: sort: command not found
