 When trying to install Dia I encounter an error when it tries to grab
 cairo 1.6.4 . I see that cairo has been upgraded to 1.7.4  and the old
 version may have been moved from the repository.  I am not familiar enough
 with the ports system to make any required changed to my own system
 manually to allow the upgrade to continue.

 Note that the current stable release for cairo is still 1.6.4, 1.7.4 is
 the in-development version (which is in MacPorts as cairo-devel).  Not
 sure why you were unable to download it, as I see the file just fine here.
 Maybe the server was having issues when you tried, so you might either try
 again or have a look at the
 [http://trac.macports.org/wiki/ProblemHotlist#Fetchfailures fetch
 failures] problem entry to get port to download from the MacPorts mirror.
