 The problem with `xioconfig.h` can probably be better fixed by repairing
 the `./configure` test for the presence of `sa_family_t`, though i'm not
 sure how to do that.

 You might want to report the problem with `filan.c` upstream, since
 [http://www.dest-unreach.org/socat/ they claim for 1.7.0.0]:

 {{{
 socat compiles on Mac OS X again.
 }}}

 It seems likely that they haven't tested it with macports under OS 10.3.
