 Thanks for your responses. When first creating a valid fcrontab file, and
 then registering it by means of calling `fcrontab file` it does indeed
 work as expected. The mere fact that it reported my $EDITOR binary as
 missing made me think of a bug straight away, sorry!

 I will ping the upstream devs about the confusing error message and
 possible documentation changes.
