 You cannot ask MacPorts to install a specific version of a port. It always
 installs the current version that is available. See the
 [wiki:howto/InstallingOlderPort InstallingOlderPort how-to] for
 instructions on how to work around this missing MacPorts feature and
 install an older version of a port if necessary.

 Discussion of versioning ports is now

 users/2009-April/014850.html occurring on the mailing list].

 If 5.4.0 is not ready to be the vtk5 port yet, then don't commit it to the
 vtk5 port until you fix it, or consider making a vtk5-devel port where you
 can fix it up, and merge that to vtk5 when ready.
