 It would be very helpful if there was a subversion-1.6.1 variant option to
 make Python bindings.  If you are using the 1.6.1 command line client then
 it is not possible to interact with a 1.6 repository from Python because
 Apple ships the 1.4 libraries with their Python.

 I think that the only dependency would be python_select, because swig
 ships with OS X.
