 So - I deleted MacPorts and then reinstalled, changed 'universal_archs' to
 ONLY 'x86_64' (what I had before), and was able to reproduce this error.
 I then deleted installed ports, and changed 'universal_archs' to 'i386
 x86_64', and it worked fine...FWIW...
