 so something about "ExceptionInformation * theException" is not being
 cpp'd correctly.  What happens to it with cpp?

 to port -v install ...

 then do the last gcc line but s/-c/-e/ and examine the output... how is
 that line getting mangled?

 Is it working 2-way or 3-way universal?  what arch is failing?  is there
 some obvious ifdef magic in the system headers that is only triggering for
 certain archs?
