 i was able to get around this by installing autoconf 2.63, deactivating
 2.64, and activing 2.63.  [[BR]]

 you can check which autoconf you have active by executing > sudo port
 installed autoconf . [[BR]]

 if 2.64 is active then deactivate with [[BR]]
 sudo port deactivate autoconf @2.64 .

 if you have 2.63 installed, activate it with [[BR]]
 sudo port activate autoconf @2.63 .

 reverse the deactivate/activate procedure to get back to the latest
 autoconf.

 if you don't have 2.63 installed, then follow the instructions here:
 http://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto/InstallingOlderPort on installing an
 older version of a port. [[BR]]
 you'll want the autoconf version here

 after you install, activate as I previously mentioned.
