 Ja, of course. I was expecting the question as soon as I realized that I
 did not mention that I indeed have libsdl installed :-) I have not
 installed esound tough.

 But I am on an PPC machine, maybe the difference is there. Since the SDL
 output does not work properly on my machine either I opt for the solution
 you provided (limiting the output to coreaudio).
