Comment:

 Yes, I'm surprised the fontconfig install completed and didn't error out.
 But I'm glad you got it working now. I'll close this as "invalid" because
 there wasn't a bug in fontconfig, but, as I mentioned, I filed #20728 to
 have MacPorts base detect and print a message about this situation.
