 The +no_mmx variant alone isn't enough to overcome the error, but
 combining it with the +no_gpl does the trick. The workaroud for my case is
 thus
 {{{
 sudo port install ffmpeg +no_mmx +no_gpl
 }}}
 with +speex as a valid option if desired.
