 Thanks for the work around. Configure options can be set in the Portfile.
 Add the following line to
 /opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/graphics/babl/Portfile

 {{{
 configure.args --disable-mmx
 }}}

 It builds just fine after that.
