 The fortran flags are correct, so it's probably getting the -arch from
 LDFLAGS (at least I hope it's not using CFLAGS...). This is of course the
 very reason why configure.ld_archflags didn't initially exist. Have to
 either clear it, or set configure.compiler so the chosen gcc is used for C
 as well.
