 Trying a different route to install in 64-bit:

 $ sudo port -v install erlang configure.args-append=--enable-m64-build
 configure.args-append=--enable-darwin-64bit configure.args-
 append=--build=i686-apple-darwin10

 Which doesn't do what I want: replace -m32 with -m64 and add all the other
 erlang 64-bit required stuff.

 This issue more converts to a feature request: "please add a 64-bit
 variant"
