 I've tried it again. I've even installed the patch from
 [https://trac.macports.org/ticket/17950#comment:61 #comment:61] but with
 no success. I assume that you and jonas are on Leopard. Is there anyone
 with a running gnucash/quartz on Tiger?

 Yes, i installed gnucash 4 days ago from a fresh port installation, i
 manually startet "d-bus" (launchctl load
 /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist) and now i have a
 running gnucash/quartz on tiger
