 I now found that these errors had already been mentioned in #11605 which
 was closed "wontfix". There was also a
 [http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-
 users/2007-June/004113.html thread on macports-users in June 2007] which
 ended without resolution.

 The gcc33 and gcc40 ports depend on odcctools on no OS other than Panther
 presumably because the cctools on Panther are too old. It is therefore
 counterproductive for the version of odcctools to be too new for Panther.

 In the above mailing list thread it was suggested to bring back the last
 Panther-compatible version of odcctools (perhaps in a new port). The
 [http://svn.macosforge.org/repository/odcctools/trunk/ odcctools
 repository] is on Mac OS Forge.
