 The reason gcc42 is set as the compiler for the kde ports is because gcc4
 won't work and gnu's gcc 4.2 doesn't work either.
 So the fix, would be to update the apple-gcc42 port to the latest version.
 I'm trying to get this working in ticket #16666.
