 My error message is slightly different from those above, but also points
 to a issue with Xlib.

 Warning: Widget must be a VendorShell.
 Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display "/tmp
 /launch-hGnkhY/:0".
 Error: attempt to add non-widget child "dsm" to parent "xmgrace" which
 supports only widgets
