 Actually... another possibility is that X11_DIR is being set to $x11prefix
 which happens based on:

 {{{
         if {! [file exists ${prefix}/lib/libX11.dylib]} {
                 build.args-append X11_DIR=${x11prefix}
                 destroot.args-append X11_DIR=${x11prefix}
         }
 }}}

 so do you not have /opt/local/lib/libX11.dylib for some reason?  Did you
 have +system_x11 variant set at some point?
