 Sorry for not reacting to this bug before, but
 [http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=33050 MySQL bug 33050] says this was
 fixed in MySQL 5.0.58 and 5.1.24, so it should be fixed in MacPorts as
 well, where we currently have mysql5 @5.0.75 and mysql5-devel @5.1.30.
