I tried running gconfd-2 and then gconf-editor manually, and then running
gnucash.
This results in gnucash hanging at the splash screen right after "Loading
data...". In the terminal, it says Found Financial::Quote version 1.13. If
gconfd-2 was not running, gnucash will startup with the warning about not
having any configuration data, etc. and prompts to create new default
configuration etc.
I've been seeing this problem where gnucash will hang at the splash screen
since about 3rd Jan 2009 when there were new ports released for various
X11 bits. startx would complain about older versions of X11.app, etc. I
ended up having to install a new Xquartz release.
Prior to 3rd Jan 2009, dbus 1.2.10 (?) was working fine with the
/var/tmp/... path listen socket (other than having to edit dbus's
session.conf to convert '+' to %2b). With the 1.2.12_1 release, I only see
one automatically started dbus process: '/opt/local/bin/dbus-daemon
--nofork --session' running on my system.
This is on OS X Leopard 10.5.6, latest iPhone SDK (if it makes any
difference), and XQuartz 2.3.2. gnucash 2.2.8_0 was compiled with the
default settings (no variants selected).
