 Hi,
 Thanks for the speedy response. I agree - a malloc error should be due to
 the base. I have 40 GB left on the HDD with 2GB of RAM.

 Not sure where to take it from here.

 I note that using 'livecheck', that there is a newer version of texlive
 available. Perhaps this wouldn't have the same problems? Of course, I
 could be clutching at straws here. Any advice would be most appreciated.
