 launchd was introduced in 10.4 so anything specific to that is quite
 unlikely to work on 10.3; so this should probably be enabled in a platform
 darwin section and testing for 10.4 or later (see for example the
 [browser:trunk/dports/graphics/cairo/Portfile#L129 cairo port], in the
 {{{platform macosx}}} section).  Then all other situations should be
 covered by the default dbus configuration.
