 Applications built with qt3 or fox segfault when using system x11
 libraries (i.e. when using the system_x11 variant).  To test, build qt3 or
 fox with xorg dependencies installed using the system_x11 variant.  Then
 run /opt/local/bin/assistant (part of qt3) or /opt/local/bin/adie (part of
 fox).

 I suspect this is do to conflict between the system Xft2 libraries and the
 macports freetype libraries.  Attempting to force use of the system
 freetype libraries results in failed compiles.  Everything worked for me
 after re-installing xorg-libs without setting the system_x11 variant.
