 Oh, I meant that it's not that the path to ez_setup has changed or is
 incorrect. I just tried a couple svn checkouts via sourceforge etc and had
 no problem so it's not my security, or not obviously so.  I get the exact
 errors you do of course.

 this works, but of course svn still tries to get ez_setup via svn://svn

 $ sudo python ez_setup.py -U setuptools
